Rick,

Too bad we don't all have the ability to see the world through the eyes of a child. Imagine how wonderful everything must look? Imagine your imagination run wild? Imagine having no prejudice? Imagine having no expectations?

Imagine.

Cheers,

I think the lesson here is very invaluable. We all seem to not have enough time
for the things that matter most when in actuality, we've burdened our 'timeline'
with non essentials. Thank you so much for this

We can all create our own realities.

Quiet obviously, success is subjective. Your success might be possessions and riches. Mine might be in the simple pleasure of loving relationships.

Whose definition is the right one?

Charity,

The key to real friendship is the unconditional part. Many people have trouble even understanding what that really means. Many of us don't really understand putting someone else ahead of ourselves.

If you have found someone who gives unconditionally and who puts themselves ahead of you, then you have truly found a Sam's friend.

True friends do what is good and right because they are good and right. True friends don't keep score.

Cheers,
Marc

I once had a conversation with an award winning, published author who had just written a short story for an obscure international website. The story was about struggle, redemption, and the power of hope. He shared with me an email he received from a reader half way around the world. The reader stated she had seen herself in the story, identified with the protagonist, and changed her life based on the resolution of the plot.

As he related this to me, the author said he could now consider his life successful. I questioned this, pointing to his awards and his published works. His response was that at that specific moment he had no other reason to exist than to provide the impetus for a young woman he will never meet to change her life. The other worldly trappings of success were nice but were only a means to achieve the true goal of individual lives changed.

Truly remarkable article! Unfortunately, these so-called sciences like, e.g., economics and polisci, only reinforce the trend of giving everything a price tag or wanting to measure anything that happens. We're big in generalizations and have lost the ability to value the special, the details, the little nuances.
